Working with Events
Well Explorer > Wells Tab
An Event is the data level directly beneath the Well level in the Well Explorer hierarchy. Each Event within a Well is defined by the Event Code (Reactivate, Repair, Workover, etc.) and the Objective (Completion, Development, Wildcat, etc). The date that follows the Event Code in the Well Explorer helps to further define the Event. An Event is defined as a time slice or period marking a phase of major operations occurring at a Well. A new Event must be created when the focus of work activity on the Well changes. Every Well contains multiple Events. Each Event represents a particular job performed on the Well. Concurrent Events or overlapping Events are supported.
A Well can have as many Events as required. The data storage structure of EDM™ allows each Event to contain as many Reports (e.g., Daily Operations, Casing, Cementing, etc.) obtained within it as required.
A Job, created in the Jobs tab, is equivalent to an Event. Jobs entered in the Jobs tab also appear in the Wells tab as an Event. The only difference between a Job and an Event is that an Event is contained within an individual Well, whereas a Job can cover multiple Wells.
