Catalogs
OpenWells® Software Features
Catalogs are used to collate a list of available drilling components and their properties. They are shared by various EDM™ database applications as selection lists for various equipment such as Drill Pipes, Drill Collars, Centralizers, Mud Motors and Packers. Catalogs are created and stored in the Catalog Editor application that ships with the Engineer's Desktop™ software suite.
Catalogs can be accessed through the Catalog Editor node ( ) of the Well Explorer tree or by using the Select from Catalog button found in many OpenWells data entry forms.
Using the Catalog Button
Click to display the Catalog dialog box.
Use the Catalog picklist to select the appropriate information.
Double-click to make an initial selection in any one of the columns. This will narrow down the selections available in the other columns below the Catalog field.
Note: Single-clicking on selections does not accurately select the item.
Double-click on an item in any one of the columns and the selections will again be filtered. As data is selected in each column the other columns are dynamically changed to reflect the selections available.
Note: Click Reset to restart the selection at any time.
Once a selection is made in all columns so that one item remains the OK button becomes available.
Click OK to add the catalog item to the spreadsheet.
The Select from Catalog button appears in the Casing Report (Components Section), Daily Operations Report (Drillstrings Section), Wellbore Equipment Report (Components Section) and the Pipe Tally Report
The Catalog Editor application is available to create new catalogs, change existing catalogs and delete old catalogs. Catalogs are available in the Well Explorer of each of the EDM Engineering applications. Accessing these catalogs automatically opens the Catalog Editor.
