Off-Load Tally

Pipe Tally Report

The Off-Load Pipe Tally is used to record measurements of pipes being unloaded from a transport vehicle or vessel.  

Entering information initially in the Off-Load Pipe Tally has real value when creating running tallies and Casing/Wellbore Equipment reports.

Record pipe joints to the Off-Load Tally spreadsheet

  1. Click the addrow.gif Add Row button to add a row to the table or the insertrow.gif Insert Row button to insert a row above a selected row.

    The Tally No. column is automatically numbered with each row added to the spreadsheet.

    Shortcut Method: Alternatively, use the down arrow key on the keyboard to add another row to the Off-Load Tally spreadsheet.  The cursor remains in the Length column allowing quick and easy data entry in the Length as pipes are added.

  2. Enter the length of the pipe in the Length column.

    The Total Length field for the entire tally is automatically calculated as each pipe length is entered.

  3. If a joint is damaged or short and will not be run in the hole, check the check box in the Out column to indicate that the length of that joint should not be used when calculating the Total Length column. If a joint is marked as Out, OpenWells will not copy it into a Run Tally report.

  4. Enter additional information about the pipe length, if necessary, in the Comments column.

  5. Repeat steps 1 to 4 for each pipe joint off loaded and added to the report.

Attach Pipe Joints to Create Pipe Sections

  1. In the Pipe Sections spreadsheet, click the addrow.gif Add Row button

  2. Enter the appropriate information describing the section of pipe.

  3. Select the Attach Section button.

    The Attach Section dialog appears.

  4. Select the to and from row numbers of the joints entered in the Off-Tally spreadsheet that will make up the pipe section.

  5. Click OK.

    The details of the section appear in the Pipe Information area for each joint attached.

Attach Consecutive and Non-Consecutive Pipe Joints to Create Pipe Sections

  1. In the Pipe Sections spreadsheet, click the addrow.gif Add Row button

  2. Enter the appropriate information describing the section of pipe.

  3. Make sure the Pipe Section row is selected.

  4. In the Off Tally spreadsheet, select the joints that will be attached to this section.

    Consecutive and/or non-consecutive rows can be selected to attach to the pipe section, using the following methods:

  5. Select the row number. This will turn the entire row blue.

  6. Select consecutive rows by holding the Shift key down and selecting the first; keep the Shift key down and select the last row.

  7. Select non-consecutive rows by holding the Ctrl key down while selecting the rows you want included in the pipe section.

  8. Select the Attach Section button.

    A dialog appears displaying the number of the rows selected.  

  9. Click OK to accept the selected rows.

    The details of the section appear in the Pipe Information area for each joint attached.  

Special Fields and Functions

Tally Type

The Tally type field is populated by the application when the report is created. This value cannot be changed. To run a Run Tally report instead, you must create a new report.

Threads

Select either ON or OFF in the Threads field to record whether the pipe lengths were measured with or without the thread correction length.

Quick Entry Decimal Places

The Quick Entry Decimal Places methods allow you to specify the decimal position used for data entry in the Off-Load Tally spreadsheet. This enables quick data entry with no need to enter the decimal. Select one of the following options:

Auto Calculate check box and Calculation Button

When the Auto Calculate check box is activate the Total Length of all joints are automatically calculated for each joint added to the spreadsheet.

To increase the performance of the application while entering the pipe tally joints, de-select the Auto Calculate check box. This allows users to enter all of the pipe joints without the calculation occurring. Once all joint have been entered click the Calculate button to calculate the Total Length column.  

Pipe Information Area

The Pipe Information area displays data entered in the Pipe Sections spreadsheet which has been attached to the currently selected pipe in the Off-Load Tally spreadsheet.

Total Length Run

The Total Length Run is the total length of pipes entered (with the exception of those marked as Out) in the Total Length column of the Off-Load Tally spreadsheet.

Total Length Out

The Total Length Out field is the total length of all pipe sections marked as Out. These joints are not run in hole.

Total

The Total field is the sum of the Total Length Run and the Total Length Out fields.

Total Joints In

The Total Joints In displays the number of pipe joints recorded in the Off-Load Tally spreadsheet to be run in hole.

Total Joints Out

The Total Joints Out displays the number of pipe joints marked as Out. These joints cannot be run in hole and will normally be sent back to the supplier.

Total Joints

The Total Joints field is the total number of pipe joints recorded in the Off-Load Tally spreadsheet.

Pipe Sections Spreadsheet

The Pipe Sections spreadsheet is used to define properties of each type of pipe that make up the pipe tally (e.g., casing joint, float collar, shoe). If a pipe section comprises one or more pipe joints, enter the details for the section in the Pipe Sections spreadsheet. Click the Attach Section button to associate it in the Attach Section dialog with one or more pipe joints entered in the Off-Load Tally spreadsheet.

The Pipe Information area for each joint is then populated with the summarized details when the pipe that it is attached to is selected in the Off-Load Tally spreadsheet.

Attach Section Button

The Attach Section button is used to connect a pipe section to one or more joints listed in the Off-Load Tally spreadsheet. In the Attach Section dialog, select the row numbers for the joints that you want attached to the pipe section. The applicable Pipe Section row must be selected when defining tally items using this button. The details will be summarized in the Pipe Information area when the pipe is selected in the Off-Load Tally spreadsheet. The Attach Section button may be used multiple times for different joint series as necessary.

Select from Catalog Button

Click the Select from Catalog button to select a component from a collection of pre-defined components, called a catalog. For information on selecting items from a catalog, see the Catalogs topic. If the button is not available (i.e., greyed out), a catalog of available components has not been set up from which to select.

The Auto Catalog Select command is activated the Catalog Selection dialog automatically appears by default.
