Casing Report
The General section is used to record information on the casing string run and the various job parameters
This help topic contains information for the following areas in this section:
The Update Time Summary button allows users to push data entered in specific reports directly into a new row in the Time Summary spreadsheet. This button is configured in the Layout Manager of the EDM Administration Utility. This button reduces data entry time and duplication.
This feature is available in the following areas:
Classic Entry Form: Casing, Cementing, Perforation, Stimulations and Wellbore Equipment,
WYSIWYG Forms: Casing, Cementing and Stimulations.
When the Update Time Summary button is selected in the OpenWells® application the Update Time Summary dialog appears.
From this dialog the user can verify the data is correct, edit if necessary or click OK to push the data to the Time Summary spreadsheet.
The following sample shows data pushed from a Perforation report to the Time Summary spreadsheet.
The Assembly Information area is used to record summary information of the casing string.
Assembly Name
The assembly name is related to the stage of the well construction process (e.g., surface, intermediate, production).
Note: Data selected in the Assembly Name field appears in the picklist for the Assembly field in the General section of the Cementing report. OpenWells® software populates this picklist by searching the database for String Type entries in Casing reports dated on or before the date of the Cementing report. If the Casing report is dated after the Cementing report, the Assembly Name for that report will not appear in the picklist.
Located Inside
If the casing being described is run inside another casing, use the Located Inside picklist to select the previous casing or liner assembly.
Parallel
Activate this check box to indicate the casing is parallel to another casing down the hole.
Measured Depth (MD)
The MD field is automatically populated from the previous Daily Operations report and displays the depth of the rig operation.
TVD
The true vertical depth for the hole is calculated using data from the most recent Daily Operations report. The TVD is the true vertical depth as an interpolation of the current north/south offset, east/west offset and MD (Measured Depth field).
Import Planned or Prototype String Button
This button can be used to import a planned or prototype casing string, already defined in the Well Planning report, StressCheck™ software or PROFILE™software into the Casing report. For more information on this button, see the Import Planned or Prototype String topic.
The Depth area is used to record the depth measurement parameters and resulting calculations for each assembly. It also displays information on the current datum for the Well.
Depth Calc Top To Base
Activate this check box to have the casing shoe depth calculated from a entered top depth and assembly component lengths. If not activated, the casing set depth is referred to the cement datum elevation entered and the assembly top is calculate again using the component lengths.
MD Top
The top measured depth records the depth at the top of the assembly.
Depth Correction
The depth correction records the estimates stretch in the casing string.
Assembly Length
The assembly length is calculated based on the sum of all the component Lengths entered in the Components Section of the Casing report.
MD Landed
The landed measured depth is calculated based on the sum of the MD Top, Depth Correction and Assembly Length fields if the Depth Calc Top To Base check box is set.
Suspension Point
When available, the suspension point is the Assembly Name of any casing or tubing that was run on a date prior to the date of the current Casing report for that Well/Wellbore. Essentially, it is the assembly that suspends the current casing (e.g., for liners it is the previous casing or liner that the hanger is set inside).
Datum
The Datum name field is read-only and displays the name of the current viewing datum for data entry.
Description
The datum description field is read-only and displays a description for the datum.
Elevation
The Elevation field is automatically populated as a part of the datum information.
The Assembly Properties area is used to record the physical properties of the Casing as it is placed in the Well.
The Fluids area records the circulation time prior to running the assembly, the mud density at the Casing Shoe for StressCheck, whether there is fluid loss while running the assembly and how much fluid is lost when running the assembly.
Fluid Lost
When fluid is lost while running the assembly, activating the Fluid Lost check box allows for data entry in the Vol Fluid Lost field.
The Casing Flange area is used to record information of the flange that is used with the Casing assembly. Enter information on the Flange, such as Manufacturer, Model, Size and Rating.
