UBD Operations

Daily Operations Report > Under Balanced/Air Drilling

The UBD Operations section enables the rig site supervisor to record one or more under balanced/air drilling operations summaries in each report.

UBD Operations Spreadsheet

Click the Add Row (addrow.gif) button to add a row to the spreadsheet to record information about the UBD operation in the Details area.

For information on using spreadsheets, see the Using Spreadsheets and Tables topic.

Details Area

From and To

Enter the reporting interval start and end time of the UBD operations interval.

Duration

This field is automatically populated with the duration since the last UBD operation.

Note:  The previous UBD operation may have occurred on the previous Daily Operations report.

MD (Measured Depth) Top

Enter the measured depth of the start of the drilled interval  in the MD Top field.

MD Base

Enter the measured depth of the end of the drilled interval in the MD Base file. This field automatically populates the MD field in the UBD Operations spreadsheet.

Fluid Type

Identifies the type of fluid used during the operation. Select Dust or Mist from the picklist.

Water Type

This field is available only if Fluid Type is Mist. Select Fresh or Brine from the picklist.

Compressors on Location

Enter the total number of compressors at the rig site.

Compressors on Hole

Enter the number of compressors actively used during this operation.

Boosters on Location

Enter the total number of boosters at the rig site.

Boosters on Hole

Enter the number of boosters actively used  during this operation.

Measure Square Cubic Feet per Minute (SCFM) Air

Select either Metered (M) or Estimated (E) from the picklist.

RBOP Pressure

Record the Rotating Blow Out Preventer (RBOP) pressure.

BHP

Record the Bottom Hole Pressure (BHP).

Nitrogen (N2) Unit On Hole

Activate the check box if there is a Nitrogen Unit injecting gas into the circulating system.

Liquid Rate In

Enter the liquid flow rate (e.g., gallons per minute (gpm) of fluids pumped into the wellbore.

Liquid Rate Out

Enter the liquid flow rate (e.g., gallons per minute (gpm) of fluids flowing out of the wellbore.

Gas Rate In

Enter the air flow rate (e.g., Cubic Feet Per Minute under standard conditions (SCFM)) for air pumped down the drill pipe.

Gas Rate Out (air flow rate)

Enter the air flow rate (e.g., Cubic Feet Per Minute under standard conditions (SCFM)) for air circulated out of the borehole.

Net Gas Produced

This field is calculated as the difference between Gas Rate Out and Gas Rate In. A positive value indicates that gas was produced; whereas, a negative value indicates gas was injected.

Zero Rotating Blow Out Preventer (RBOP) Element Hours

Activate this check box to zero out the Cumulative RBOP Element 1 and 2 hours from previous reporting period.

RBOP Element 1 Hours

This field is auto-populated by calculating the hours from the times entered in the From and To fields. The Element 1 hours can also be manually entered to override the calculation.

RBOP Element 2 Hours

This field is auto-populated by adding the Duration to the previous RBOP Element Hours 2since it was last zeroed.

Cumulative RBOP Element 1 Hours

Calculated from the sum of all Element 1 hours back to the last record where RBOP Element hours were zeroed (may be in previous Daily Operations report).

Cumulative RBOP Element 2 Hours

Calculated from sum of all Element 2 hours back to the last record where RBOP Element hours were zeroed.
