Leak Off Test Section
Daily Operations Report
The Leak Off Test section uses Detail Spreadsheets to record leak off tests, formation integrity tests.
Hole Section Spreadsheet
The Hole Section spreadsheet located at the top of the Leak Off Test section, contains all hole sections added in the Hole Sections area of the Daily Operations Report.
LOT/FIT Spreadsheet
Add a row to the LOT/FIT spreadsheet to record each Leak Off Test or Formation Integrity Test occurring.
The contents of this spreadsheet is directly related to the row selected in the Hole Section spreadsheet above.
Enter details for the Test in the Details area below the spreadsheet.
LOT/FIT Field
The LOT/FIT field defines the test as either FIT (Formation Integrity Test), or LOT (Leak Off Test) for this field.
Date
Date and time of performance of the leak off/formation integrity test.
MD Test
Measured depth of the hole at the time of the test. Normally this is the weakest part of the hole (i.e., shoe depth).
TVD Test
True vertical depth of the hole at the time of the test. This TVD is used in the calculation of EMW.
AMW
Specific weight of the drilling fluid during the leak off/formation test.
Surface Pressure
Pump pressure used to calculate the Equivalent Mud Weight for the leak off/formation test. Typically, the maximum pressure observed during pumping before the pressure starts to fall off.
BHP
Calculated equivalent bottom hole pressure of the maximum surface pressure.
BHP = (AMW * TVD Test * 0.052) + Surface Pressure
EMW
Specific weight of a fluid with hydrostatic column that causes pressure in the well bottom; equal to the pressure obtained in the test.
EMW = BHP / (0.052 * TVD Test)
Injection check box
Activate the Injection check box if the Leak Off Test resulted in fluid being injected into the formation.
Formation
Name of the Stratigraphic Unit (Formation) that the test was performed in.
Open Hole Length
Length of new hole drilled below the previous casing shoe.
Absorption check box
Activate the Absorption check box to indicate absorption in the leak off test.
Fracture check box
Activate the Fracture check box to indicate a fracture occurred during the Formation Integrity Test.
Pump Rate
Flow used during the execution of a specific leak off/formation integrity test. Constant flow during the test.
Pump Height
Elevation of the Pump.
Water Depth
Depth of water for offshore wells. Surface to Mudline.
API Water Loss
API filtering of the drilling fluid used to perform the leak off/formation integrity test.
Charge Loss
Pressure loss during the test.
Injection Point
Enter the injection point of the leak off test
Lithology
Lithology type test was performed in.
Test Result
Results of the leak off / formation integrity test (A - absorption, F - fracture, S - No absorption).
Test Continuous check box
Indicate whether the test is continuous or with breaks (Y/N). Activate the Test Continuous check box if no breaks occurred during the test.
Hole Azimuth
Azimuth of bottom hole at time of the test.
Hole Inclination
Inclination of bottom hole at time of the test.
Stabilization Pressure
Value of the stabilization pressure obtained after the occurrence of absorption in the absorption test. (psi)
Stabilization Time
Time elapsed from the time of the occurrence of absorption until the pressure stabilizes. (min)
Volume Fluid Returned
Volume of fluid returned to the tanks after ceasing the injection of fluid into the well during the leak off/formation integrity test
Volume Fluid Absorbed
Volume of fluid absorbed into the formation during the test.
Total Volume Pumped
Volume of fluid pumped during the test.
Pumping Details Spreadsheet
Shut In Time
Time elapsed after pump shut down.
Pressure
Surface pressure measured from the pumps.
BH Pressure
Pressure in the bottom of the well. Measurement of the pressure applied to the formation.
Volume
Volume of fluid pumped during the measurement of test pressure.
