Spelling Command

Tools > Spelling...

The Spelling command allows the user to check spelling in the selected field. This command is especially useful for memo fields, where data entry may be long. The Spelling command is only available for text entry fields.

  1. To access the Spelling checker, select a field containing the text to be checked.

  2. Follow the menu path: Tools > Spelling ...

Shortcut Methods: Select a field containing text and click the Spell.gif  button. Alternatively, use the keyboard shortcut: F8.

The Check Spelling dialog box appears.

Special Fields and Functions

Not in Dictionary

This field contains the word that does not appear in one of the OpenWells® software defined Dictionaries. For information on Dictionaries used by OpenWells software see the Options Command topic.

Change to

This field contains a word which could be used to replace the word not found in the dictionaries.

Suggestions

This area contains a list of closely spelled words. Select a word from this area to add it to the Changed to field.

Add Words to

This area defines the dictionary new words are added to. The word appearing in the Not in Dictionary field are added to this dictionary when the Add button is clicked.

Ignore Button

Click this button to ignore the spelling and keep the current word.

Ignore All  Button

Click this button to ignore the spelling and keep the current word and any other occurrences of the word.

Change Button

Click the button to replace the Not in Dictionary word with the Change to word.

Change All Button

Click the button to replace the Not in Dictionary word with the Change to word and any other occurrences of the word.

Suggest Button

Click this button to update the Suggestions list.

Add  Button

Click this button to add the Not in Dictionary word to the Add words to dictionary.

Undo  Button

Click the button to undo the last spelling change applied.

Cancel Button

Use this button to cancel the spelling check and close the Check Spelling dialog.
