BHA Operations Tab

Daily Operations Report > Drillstrings Section

To properly analyze BHA performance, operational information is needed over the depth interval of the BHA Run. This information can be recorded in the BHA Operations tab.

This section contains a Detail Spreadsheet which records each operation of the selected BHA in the BHA Run Summary table.

Copy From Previous BHA Operation Button

The Copy From Previous BHA Operation button copies a previously entered BHA Operation for the current BHA Run into the BHA Operations spreadsheet.  When this button is selected a dialog appears listing all BHA Operations entered for the current BHA Run. Select the BHA Operation to be copied and click OK. Edit the operation to correctly reflect the current Operations parameters.

Drill Mode

The Drill Mode picklist directly affects Progress Summary calculations appearing in the Summary Tab.

Directional Parameters

MD

Measured Depth (MD) is the depth for the operations parameters. The MD and the Time parameters define where and when the parameters were recorded.

TVD

The True Vertical Depth (TVD) field is a calculated field. When the first row is added to the BHA Operations table, the TVD field is calculated based on MD entered interpolated from survey starting data entered in the Survey section.

String Operation Parameters

Drag

The Drag field is calculated as follows: Drag = String Weight Up - String Weight Rotating.

Progress Parameters

Footage

Footage is the amount of hole drilled since the BHA operation. This field is calculated as follows:

Footage = MD (of current BHA operation) - MD (of previous BHA operation)

ROP

Rate of Progress (ROP) is the progress rate calculated using Progress BHA operation. This field is calculated as follows:

ROP = Footage / Drilling Hours

Dull Mode

Dull Mode identifies for which type of operation the drilling parameters are recorded.

Cum Drilling

The Cumulative Drilling (hours) field is calculated as follows:

Cum Drilling = Drilling Hours for all BHA Operations for the current Drillstring

Cum Circulating

The Cumulative Circulating (hours) field is calculated as follows:

Cum Circulating = Circulating Hours for all BHA Operations for the current Drillstring

Cum String

The Cumulative String (hours) field is the sum of the of the Cumulative Drilling hours and Cumulative Circulating hours.
