Fluids Section
Cementing Report
The Fluids section of the Cementing report is used to capture details about all fluids used in the cement job. This includes cement slurries, washes, drilling mud and displacement fluids. This section uses spreadsheets to record detailed information.
For information on using spreadsheets, see the Using Spreadsheets and Tables topic.
Cementing Fluids Area
Fluid Name, Class and Description
Select the fluid, class and description of the fluid used for the cement job from the picklists or, optionally, select the details for the fluid in the Slurry tab section below.
Fluid Type
This field is automatically populated when you enter the Fluid Type in the Slurry details.
Fluid Details Area
Slurry Tab
Enter Cement Slurry information such as purpose, type, class, density, description and excesses.
Some fields displayed are specific to cement slurries. Leave these fields blank for other types of fluids.
In the Rheology section, both the Fluid Name and Fluid Type fields automatically populate the corresponding fields in the spreadsheet above. Use this area to record fluid density, name and type as well as other details about the rheology of the fluid. The data entered in this area is used to model how the fluid will flow; this includes the fluids elasticity, plasticity and viscosity.
Excess Slurry Volume - is an editable calculated field that is calculated as follows:
Excess Slurry Volume = Total Slurry Volume * Excess Slurry Percent
Total Water Volume Used - is an editable calculated field that is calculated as follows:
Total Water Volume = Sacks Used * Mix Water Ratio
(for example, sack * gal/sack = gal. is a volume)
Additives Tab
Click Add Row () or Insert Row (
) to add a row to the spreadsheet. For each additive, record detailed information in the corresponding fields, including additive name, type, concentration, amount and applicable units.
Tests Tab
Click Add Row () or Insert Row (
) to add a row to the spreadsheet. For each test performed on the cement fluid, record details in the corresponding columns, including information on compression strength, temperature and time, as well as fluid loss and thickening information.
IMPORTANT! This tab is disabled unless the TopBaseSlurryAndTest and TopBaseSlurryAndTestCodes system settings have been configured in the EDM Administration Utility. These system settings are used to configure the Cement Stage MD Top and MD Base fields to calculate based on the Slurry MD Top and Slurry MD Base of a defined fluid(s) entered in the Pumping Schedule.
Dial Tab
Click Add Row () or Insert Row (
) to add a row to the spreadsheet. Use the Dial spreadsheet to record Fann viscometer readings measured for the fluid.
