Using Drag and Drop

OpenWells® Software Features

"Drag and Drop" in the Well Explorer functions somewhat like the Microsoft Windows Explorer. You can use drag and drop to copy Companies, Projects, Sites, Wells, Wellbores, Events, Jobs, Reports,  Contractors, Air Packages, Rigs, Rig Operations, Rig Equipment, and attached documents.

All drag and drop operations simply copy the data; data is never cut or moved.

To copy a specific piece of equipment from one rig to another rig, expand the rig node for each of the rigs. Select the piece of equipment to be copied and drag it to the new location. A copy of the item will appear in the new location.

• To copy¾Drag and drop an item to copy it from one location and paste it into another. The item and some associated data will be copied and pasted.

Some rules to follow:

• You cannot drag associated items such as Lessons, Output Reports and NPT/Equipment Failures in OpenWells software.

• Reports are not copied with Wells, Wellbores, or Events.

• Using Drag and Drop on Reports move (cut) the Report. The Report right-click menu can be used to copy and paste Reports.

• You cannot drag and drop Jobs in OpenWells

• If you drag data that is Locked, the locks are removed in the copy.

• When copying an Event, associated Rig Operations and AFE's not copied.
