Data Validation
OpenWells® Software Features
Data Validation enables OpenWells software users to apply a set of rules (Rule Books) to Data Entry Forms and Property Dialogs in OpenWells software. These rules ensure a high level of data quality and business requirements are achieved.
Note: Rules can only be applied to actual EDM™ database fields, they cannot be applied to calculated or virtual fields.
TIP! Custom Data Entry Forms must be assigned to a user through the user's Group Security settings. By default Landmark shipped forms are used.
Data Validation is accomplished through the following utilities:
Data Validation Editor - This editor located within the EDM Administration utility defines the specific rules applied to a field in the EDM Database. For information on configuring and assigning rules, see the Data Validation Editor online help.
OpenWells Data Validator - The OpenWells Data Validator is located within the OpenWells application. This utility runs Rule Books against their defined Data Entry Forms and Property Dialogs and are used to detect and rectify data errors that fail validation. Rules created in Data Validation Editor are assigned to specific Data Entry Forms and Property Dialogs in the EDM™ Administration application.
Rule Books are executed in the OpenWells application in the following ways:
