Configure LGC EDM™ Data Receiver for Network Access

Data Synchronization

The LGC EDM Data Receiver services (Email and File System) by default are configured to run under the Local System account. The Local System account does not allow the service access to the network through mapped drives. When configuring the File Monitor directory for Data Requests, this service may need to be configured to access the network.

To configure the LGC EDM Data Receiver service with network access involves the creation of an new user and the configuration of the service.

To create a new user:

  1. Open the Computer Management tool. This tool can be accessed from Control Panel > Administrative Tools.

  2. Select Local Users and Groups.

  3. Select the Users folder.

  4. Right-click on the Users folder and select New User... from the menu that appears.

  5. Enter information for the new user in the New User dialog. For example, enter LGC Data Receiver for the User Name and Full Name.

  6. Select the Password never expires option.

  7. Click Create.

  8. Add the new user to a Group that will give the user access to the network location of the UNC directory.

To configure the service to access the network:

  1. Open the Windows Services tool. This tool can be accessed from Control Panel > Administrative Tools.

  2. Right-click on the services and select Properties from the menu that appears. The services Properties dialog appears.

  3. Select the Log On tab.

  4. Select the This account option and enter the name of the account created above.

  5. Enter a password for the service and click OK.

Note: This procedure must be performed on  the LGC EDM Data Receiver (E-Mail) service for E-Mail transfers and the LGC EDM Data Receiver (File System) service for FTP transfers. See the Mail Server Configuration topic for further information on using the LGC EDM Data Receiver (Email) service.
